About the Image(s)

I don't usually go to our local wetlands in the summer as it is too hot. However, I felt a little bored so decided to try my luck, and was rewarded with this Green Heron fishing.
You can see that the beak is under the water catching its meal, and that's why the head appears soft. Unfortunately there were many reeds in the water which are a distraction. I did my best to eliminate as many of the bright spots as possible, and have included the original for comparison.

Wow! This is quite the neck stretch. Perfect timing! Pretty nice depth of field and mirror reflection of a portion of his body, neck and head.

Darn birds don't seem to pose very well for photographers seeking the best composition. I don't think there is much you can do in post to "improve" this image.   Posted: 10/06/2019 18:31:50

Wow, what a wild neck and funky feathers! I am glad you said the beak was under water, as I thought he had a weird bendy beak.

Super crisp, and great lighting. I'd would like to see a little more room in front of his beak, if you aren't entering it in a PSA competition.

We are in Sebring starting in November!   Posted: 10/08/2019 19:23:37

Nice crisp bird, Mervyn with excellent feather detail. The reflection adds a nice touch.Eye is nice and sharp and prominent. I feel that the image would be helped by adding some canvas on the left to give the bird more room.   Posted: 10/12/2019 13:31:06
