Wonderful capture! Super sharp bird at a great moment! Can't wait to go out shooting with you and hope to get this kind of shot!

A few distractions--there seems to be a lot of noise in the pic, which is odd for ISO 400. But running a noise reduction program might be helpful.

What is the dark blue blob on the low left? I'd clone in the light blue sky.

I might consider cropping a bit of the sky off the top, it moves the osprey eyes more into the rule of thirds. And removes some more of a plain sky.

Finally, I'd be tempted to burn down the gold-ish branches in the nest. And maybe burn the green branches down a tad.

It's fantastic, and a few tweaks will really make it a winner   Posted: 08/04/2019 20:12:15

What more can I say Mervyn, what a shot and difficult to capture when it is coming straight at you. I would possibly crop out a little of the bottom of the pic, but thats only me.   Posted: 08/07/2019 04:20:56

Nicely timed shot Mervyn -- very sharp in the center.
It almost looks like lens vignetting in the corners.   Posted: 08/07/2019 10:13:47

Thanks for your comments and suggestions. The corner blobs were a poor attempt at vignetting. I have corrected the vignette, darkened the nest more and cropped some off the top and left. I think this looks a whole lot better.   Posted: 08/11/2019 12:46:01

The new and improved image is a great improvement, Mervyn. The osprey is nice and sharp with unaluttered background and bright eyes.   Posted: 08/12/2019 12:21:21

Very nice action shot. Need to stay away from these powerful claws!
