About the Image(s)
My image this month was taken at a city nature preserve. I don’t know the plant’s name so it is called Tropical plant. The image was rotated and flipped to a more pleasing configuration. The distracting spots were removed. The distracting leaf near the bottom of the original was improved with transform . Two textures were added to give definition to the background and brighten the plant. A slight vignette was added as well as slight sharpening and a stroke to separate the image from the background
Olympus OMD E-M1 MarkII, f/8, 1/320 sec, iso 250.

I think I like the original orientation and tonal values better. Otherwise a nice shot.

I like both --strong diagonal lines; muted soft greens with subtle white veriegation; good composition.   Posted: 10/06/2018 19:56:32

They are both lovely. Really nice details and textures. The depth of field is amazing with a micro 4/3!   Posted: 10/06/2018 20:20:25

I prefer the vertical rendition you posted. The plant veins echo the diagonal leaf lines. I just heard a lecture on Homer Winslow and he became famous for strong vertical compositions. I also like Stephen's b/w version.
The bottom leaf with the "cup" reminds me of a Bird of Paradise. Graceful and beautiful.

Well shucks I am a horizontal fan ...I feel more comfortable with the diagonals coming from the horizontal cup. The light and the dark offer a nice contract almost a positive negative very nice as always !!!   Posted: 10/13/2018 23:26:18

Candy, once again you have taken a mundane image and turned it into a work of art. You have the artists eye to do that as I would have deleted the original picture if it was mine!
The veins in the leaves make the image stand out, and I love the diagonal leaves that you are showing.   Posted: 10/16/2018 10:31:50
