About the Image(s)

Dice were shot as a table top using Canon 40D camera with 35 mm lens on tripod, with a slide bar. Camera was moved one inch between shots. dice were on a table with home-made background about 25 inches from camera. Using layers in Photoshop, the dice were made to appear in front of the window.

I like the image with a shadow better. The shadow enhances the shape of the dice and gives then something to set on. But if your goal is to have the dice floating way out in front of the screen, all I have to say is WOW! They are about 1/2 way between my screen and me.   Posted: 04/12/2021 20:19:59

The pair of dice floating in space above the green surface is interesting, clean, and good stereo.   Posted: 04/13/2021 12:50:25

Interesting image. The floating dice gives a nice stereo effect. Your color correction of the background looks good. The image is sharp. Well done.   Posted: 04/22/2021 10:11:10

Nice view, I like the floating concept but I like the view with the shadow better.   Posted: 04/24/2021 09:12:28

Betty, The view with the shadow is 2D. What I was trying to accomplish is to have the dice floating in front of the window.   Posted: 04/26/2021 11:57:50

I find the lack of shadow disturbing, since it is present in the reflection. To me, this makes the effect seem a bit lopsided. However, this problem is much reduced in the anaglyph version.   Posted: 04/25/2021 19:20:09

Steve, The effect that I was going for is to have the dice floating in front of the window. There would be no shadow.   Posted: 04/26/2021 12:01:43

When I'm looking at the left side of the dice, I'm seeing a disembodied reflection of a shadow. Without a shadow under or behind the dice to match the reflected one, it seems incongruous to my eye.   Posted: 04/26/2021 22:55:00
