About the Image(s)

The earth picture was taken from a NASA photograph. It was made into 3D using the depth map process. The moon should look more like 3D; since I shot two moon pictures about one month apart! I was lucky in that it came out to a fairly good stereo pair. Using Photoshop, I placed the earth and moon's position, in the stereo pair, so that they would appear in front of the window.

Nice 2D-3D conversion. I can see the clouds way above the surface of the earth. Did you use part of the actual earth image in SPM depth map with the "white" clouds to make the clouds appear above the earth? When I look closely at the moon, it looks like you used depth map on that too, as the dark spots on the moon seem to be above the roundness of the moon surface. It's a nice view with the earth just barely floating in front of the screen and the moon way out, 4 inches into my room.   Posted: 10/09/2020 13:05:41

David, I did not use depth map on the moon. I did take two moon pictures about one month apart. John Ballou of PSA, gave me the idea to try it. He had done it more scientifically as he studied the moon phases. You can see some of the dark areas on the left side are such as the moon was take with a left and right lens. The clouds above the earth just came out that way with depth map. This was my 3rd earth depth map attempt.   Posted: 10/11/2020 14:28:55

Very interesting although it is not your photograph just your excellent technical ability to create a stereo from two separate images. Well done for that   Posted: 10/16/2020 15:32:20

Very nice 2D to 3D conversion. I liked the way presented the Moon outside the window. Both Moon and Earth has nice 3D effect. The clouds on earth is above the surface, gives a good 3D view. I feel the water surface on earth at 7-8 O'clock angle is curved down like a depression.   Posted: 10/20/2020 01:25:02
