Lunch Time by Jason Stewart

October 2020 - Lunch Time

About the Image(s)

October photo: An egret catching it's lunch in the marshes of Assateague Island, Virginia. I was wading in the shallow waters with my daughter when I noticed this egret actively fishing. I debated for a bit and decided to go get my camera that was in the car. This was taken hand held with my Canon IDXii and Sigma 150-600mm Settings 1/2000 sec. f/6.3 600mm ISO 160. It was mid day, I ended up bringing the highlights and whites down in light room and dehazed a bit.

Over all you have a pretty good image. The best parts are the attitude of the snowy and the sharpness of the eye. I would add some contrast to the white feathers. There is a lot of drama in the water drops and the fish. Nice shot.   Posted: 10/09/2020 16:18:07

Hi Jason, basically a good image but looks a little dark and bland to me. I would try increasing the exposure a little on the bird using the adjustment brush. And also try setting the white point higher to brighten up the whites if you can without blowing them out. Nice image.   Posted: 10/19/2020 18:33:16
