About the Image(s)

Here’s another shot of the lighthouse framed within tree branches amongst the bush. Cloned out houses, etc.
In this picture, I wanted to give more prominence to the bushy area and as such, placed the lighthouse in the distance. Also added a small wave in the ocean.
Workflow:
Converted RAW file to B&W using Sliver Efex Pro ‘Soft Sepia’ filter and adjusted the Opacity to 85%. Corrected contrast using Levels. Then used Topaz DeNoise A1 and finally took the image to Color Efex Pro and applied Darken /Lighten Center.

Very, very nice, Palli. I'd suggest just one thing...use the dodge tool and give some tonal lightening to those clouds. I think the sky a bit too somber for my tastes, but I know you didn't want them screaming out at you with the emphasis being on the bush. I lighten them slightly all the way across the frame and seemed to like the result a bit better. Also burnt in a few of the highlights on the bush to lower the spike of the overexposure in Levels. See if this adds value...or not!   Posted: 04/02/2021 07:38:47

Thanks Gary for your coming up with your version, which I do like. I was actually double minded whether or not to lighten the clouds as well as darken some of the highlights on the bush ... but, you've solved the problem!!   Posted: 04/02/2021 19:07:31

I like your minimalist composition here Palli, and my only suggestion for improvement would be to echo Gary's suggestion regarding the clouds.

I think the bright foliage makes a good background for the almost silhouette quality of the leafless branches. Nicely conceived!   Posted: 04/04/2021 11:13:47

I'm with Gary and Jack with the idea of creating more visual impact with the clouds, but your version may focus your story on the vegetation and lighthouse, as you suggested. I also like your original composition. I see why you shot it this way.   Posted: 04/04/2021 15:58:26

I like your framing of the lighthouse, it is a thoughtful composition. My colleagues correctly noted to add a little dodging to your clouds and you are good to go.

Hi Palli, You have worked you scene, find a totally different view for us. Using the trees as a frame was masterful. Have you though about making this a more square presentation by cropping to just below the tree line. I have enjoyed this scene   Posted: 04/10/2021 10:40:38

Hi Melanie
Thanks for your observation and comments. I did think of a square format originally and as I was contemplating to give more emphasis to the foliage in the foreground, I decided to stay with the original format.   Posted: 04/10/2021 21:03:36
