About the Image(s)

Pictured in a Sculpture Park in one of Melbourne’s Suburbs. The sky was overcast on the day and I’d to boost the contrast using Curves with the desired result.
Initially used NIK Silver Efex “Yellow 2” Preset Filter. Also applied Gaussian Blur Filter to certain areas of the background. Then took the image back into Color Efex Pro and applied Darken / Lighten Center Filter. Finally added sepia tone and flipped the canvas for better composition.
Technical Details :
Converted Canon 40D
17-40mm f/4.5 “ 5.6 IS lens at 33mm ; ISO320 ; 1/15th sec. @ f/22 Hand held.

Well seen and laid out image, Palli! I love the way the pipes wrap around the frame, and the flip was a great idea, works so much better. I like the toning also.   Posted: 10/06/2019 13:59:59

Hi Palli,

I really enjoy the 'flip' and find this whimsical and fun. It's unique, and I compliment you on the post-processing choices as well. I totally understand f/22 for the depth of field for the pipes, but I'd like to see some more blur and oof in that background to simplify the scene a bit.   Posted: 10/07/2019 07:20:06

Thanks for your comments, Gary. Point taken in regards to simplifying the background by introducing more blur.   Posted: 10/07/2019 19:07:00

Well seen Palli. I think the flip works really well. The trees seem to be held together by the pipes. I do like the high contrast conversion you have chosen, but would prefer a simpler, narrower frame. I think the frame distracts from the image. Let me know what you think.

This a wonderful scene, the curves are in the right orientation in your rendering taking you into the image. The darker foliage contrast nicely with the subject sculpture. Softening the background a little more will keep the viewer's focus on the curves as Gary noted.
