About the Image(s)

Trying to hide, I found this Lady bug walking around the flowers of a Hydrangea shrub.
Nikon D300, spot metering mode, f11@1/1800 sec, iso 200, -1ev, fl 105mm.

Processed in LR. reduced the highlights, added saturation to the blue and orange. Cropped to place the bug in the upper right of the frame.

Hi Richard,
How lucky to have found the ladybird. The vibrant red is great against the subtle colors around it. I would reduce the highlights even more and crop to exclude the out of focus foreground flowers. I have enjoyed looking at it.   Posted: 03/09/2023 16:28:30

What a great catch to find the ladybug. I think I prefer the lower saturation in colors because then there is more contrast with the ladybug. I agree with Melanie I would have cropped up.   Posted: 03/09/2023 22:42:49

Hi Russell,

How cool to find that little ladybug dancing on the petals of your lovely blue hydrangea! The pop of red, handstand and all, makes the shot:)

I agree with Melanie and Fran on the cropping suggestion. Also, I don't know if you added the dark vignetting, but might you consider making it a little more subtle? ...just my two cents. Beautiful image!   Posted: 03/10/2023 15:13:49

Hi Russell, you have a good eye to find this little ladybug, it introduce a very nice colour contrast to the image.
I agree with the suggestion of the cropping and also I particularly don't like the black vignetting maybe you can feather it a little. Beautiful image.   Posted: 03/15/2023 07:52:35

Russell, the ladybug is a nice addition to your image. Your hydrangea has such nice color and texture. I agree with Melanie and Fran on the cropping. Maria offered good suggestion regarding the vignette.   Posted: 03/16/2023 07:25:07

Hi Russell, I agree with the others and their comments. I too would crop up but would probably crop down and in on the left.   Posted: 03/17/2023 15:27:01
