Thinking of a Pepper by Peter Newman

January 2021 - Thinking of a Pepper

About the Image(s)

This image is another in my study of lighting. Because the pepper had many hot spots, I used a low diffused light. When I first saw this pepper, its slightly twisted shape said "Buy me."

Since my black polycarbonate had not arrived, I used the top of my router as a black mirror. Shot with Nikon D800, Nikkor Micro 105mm; .5sec @ f16 hand held, ISO 1600. BW conversion in PS, with a light orange photo filter @ 34% density. All comments appreciated.

After the shoot, I stuffed the pepper with cottage cheese flavored with cinnamon. Made for a nice afternoon snack

Hope you all had a happy and healthy holiday season.

I'm not seeing any areas on the pepper that are focused, except for the very end on the left side. The pepper has a great shape, and the reflection fills the area nicely. But because it's out of focus, the reflection reminds me of a potato.   Posted: 01/12/2021 20:23:19
