About the Image(s)

This is my answer to the challenge you proposed.

Camera is Canon EOS 5D mk IV, lens: EF 100 f/2.8 Macro USM. Picture was taken handhold, as I was afraid to keep it too much close to the fire. t= 1/125 sec, f/8.0 and ISO 25600. Huge ISO, isn’t it?

I really like this image. Good balance and the slight rust on the left lower part of the burner adds to the image although perhaps it could be sharper. Also, I might lower the brightness on the left between the 2 left gas jets. It's creative and unusual.   Posted: 03/22/2019 21:03:09

Clever idea Janos. I like the contrast of the soft, blue flames against the textured burner top grays. Surprisingly little graininess considering the high ISO.   Posted: 03/23/2019 11:04:48

Interesting and imaginative choice of subjects. I choosing so, you have given us an interesting contrast in the blurred flame and the sharpness of the burner. One minor point. I find that I my eye keep snapping to the dark rust (?) spots on the lower left part of the burner, and away from the blue flame. While giving us some of the textured wear of the burner was intentional and effective, making this a predominant part of the image (which the dark spots does) detracts some from the entire image. Its soooo hard to see this kind of thing in our own images since we become so used to seeing the images as we develop the shot to completion.   Posted: 03/26/2019 11:54:13

Janos -- I like this image! I do agree the rust is a bit distracting, but I don't find the blue dots in the upper right to be so, maybe because of the color? Not noticing any "noise" from the ISO (on my monitor), so that's good.

Love this portrait of real life.
The rust, blue dots and grey lines add a sense of realism which should be present when we look at real thing the are in use.
