About the Image(s)

This unique piece of pure white sandstone was found in France and resides in the London Science Museum. The piece is approximately 5' tall, but is poorly situated for photographs. The bright, narrowly focused light beams, glass case and confined space all combined to make it difficult to photograph. My 20mm lens was not wide enough to capture the entire piece in one photo or totally avoid reflections. As you saw last month, this subject offers additional possibilities for creative crops, etc.
I used DxO PhotoLab and Viewpoint, Nik and Lightroom to process it. Next, I'll make a creative version using Topaz Texture or Simplify. Any other ideas and/or suggestions?

I just love the texture, like rolls of taffy candy or bread dough being pulled.

A great abstract or another great piece of work by Mother Nature. Love the lines and shadows. Textures are nicely focused.   Posted: 01/08/2018 11:50:04

I think you picked a great crop out of the original. I studied it to figure out what you cropped out and this seems to provide the story with a very pleasing composition.

On this image, I really like the white stroke. I seem to be struggling with when to do this and when not. This one I like.

I can't but wonder how mother nature created this art piece.   Posted: 01/09/2018 11:47:38

Jerry, you created a wonderful natural abstract full of textures and patterns that was meant to be displayed in monochrome. It almost leans to minimalist in nature. The subject is the full range of curves, lines and tone shifts.

The original color harmony is splendid and works well as a documentary presentation of what you saw at the moment of capture in color. I like it.

But, you took it to another level with well controlled tones depicted in the black and white version.   Posted: 01/09/2018 12:19:36

Great texture! It looks very sandy to me, almost like loose sand. I think it's very interesting and enjoyable.   Posted: 01/13/2018 15:38:26

Great abstract. I liked the texture, sharpness, clarity and the crop.   Posted: 01/24/2018 01:38:16
