About the Image(s)

Data: Nikon 700 with 200mm macro on tripod. ISO 500 -- 1/320 @ f/13 hazy sun with slight breeze. Soft gold reflector and electronic release. Photographed in RAW and post processed in Elements.

Maker's Aims and Comments: The out of focus green background are dark green Fir

I really like this image. Here is a case where the rule of thirds can be violated and get a great, balanced image. Actually, the stem points to the one-third point just below the purple of the thistle flower, if that matters. The whole image just fills the frame so nicely. The bee is an added feature but I see the flower and stem as the main elements of this image. Colors are good. Out-of-focus background works well. That 200mm lens is a great lens!   Posted: 11/03/2019 04:04:21

Very strong, sharp image. The details in this photo is incredible. Since I have ignored macro photography, I thought I would take a look. Interesting photos throughout the entire group. Nicely done!   Posted: 11/08/2019 16:48:43

Nice image with very sharp and imposing white elements. Nice contrast with the purple. Maybe I'd try to paint some yellow
into the body of the insect to make it stand out better.   Posted: 11/09/2019 17:54:06

Hi Murphy, Although a weed, thistles have a certain beauty. Your capture is a beauty. I like everything about it! The silvery and green tones of the branches, the purple flower at the top of the stem with the bee perched upon it is perfection. Not to mention the green background. Great composition and sharp focus.   Posted: 11/11/2019 10:09:24

Hi Murphy, great separation from the background. I like the flow of the thistle coming in from the left. The purple on top adds nice color and the bee was a bonus. Good subject and photo.   Posted: 11/13/2019 07:04:28
