This was taken last March at the Chicago Botanic Garden During there Orchid show.
As you can see from the original I didn’t do much post processing outside of upping the exposure just a bit adding some vibrance and slight cropping. This Orchid reminded me of
a butterfly.

Hi Patrick, I like the photo. What I like is the center of the flower has a lot of definition and how the red looks like its bleeding out of the center.   Posted: 10/07/2019 20:42:47

The image reminds me of a face and that attracts attention. It has quite a bit of contrast, perhaps too much. There are spots throughout the image that could be removed. The background might be darkened to accentuate the flower.   Posted: 10/08/2019 15:54:03

Hi Pat: Certainly a nice flower face. from a composition standpoint this picture is a good example of placing the center of interest in the center of the frame, it works well here. There is a dark hole in your background at the lower right corner, would clone this in; also the yellow patch in the lower left is distracting, would remove the yellow. Then the upper left corner is busy, would try to smooth this out. I know this sounds nit-picky, however it is these little distractions that will compromise an image.   Posted: 10/09/2019 00:16:15

I concur with the previous comments. The resemblance to a face is striking and makes the image. I also agree with cloning out the bit of yellow and a couple other minor spots at other locations. On my monitor, the purple appears oversaturated, but that may be on my end. My impression is that both the color and composition are strong enough that excessive saturation and vibrance are not needed to carry this image.   Posted: 10/20/2019 04:38:15
