About the Image(s)

This image was taken in Pacific Grove, CA, where the climate is especially kind to Cala Lilies. My two main PhotoShop adjustments were to (1) use the skew tool to move the leaf to a more vertical orientation and (2) convert to Black/White to emphasize the shapes and lines in the image.

Wow! Love the black and white treatment of this image. Not that it matters, but the original appears to be a different image with a slightly different perspective. Although it is fine as is, I might suggest cloning out the bottom-most leaf, darkening the upper-most leaves and brightening the highlights in the calla lily to make it pop.   Posted: 03/08/2023 07:00:37

Lovely! The B/W does make it stand out. I like the way the light rims the leaves. I'll get on my soapbox about adding a stroke though. It would confine my view within the image instead of letting it travel outside the borders.   Posted: 03/08/2023 13:22:53

Thanks, Marti. Your stroke suggestion is a good one. I normally don't add that kind of embellishment for photos I'm going to present to my camera club competitions, but I could see it would help for online presention such as Instagram or FB.   Posted: 03/21/2023 15:58:11

INgrid, a lovely image and bnw looks good here, and a bit more white I think would make it pop. Not sure if he skew changed it that much or if it is a different image, but nicely done. Maybe a bit more on top and give more space to the flower, and the tip of the leaf at the bottom tone down the brightness.   Posted: 03/12/2023 20:12:19
