August 2019 - Randy the Rocker

About the Image(s)

Randy is a photographer friend of mine who has stepped in front of the camera lens for me twice. This time, he brought about 6 of his many guitars. He has been playing guitar since his early teens and we decided to document his other hobby. Randy is sitting on a stool about 10 feet in front of a seamless white background with one of his favorite electric guitars. The main light is a soft-box light modifier on a White Lightning strobe, camera right with a reflector camera left. Post processing, I converted the RAW image to monochrome in Lightroom CC, adjusted the contrast, sharpened the image in Photoshop CC after adding a vignette.

Another well thought out, strong image Dave.

The hard lighting suits the character very well and you've pushed just enough fill light into the image to bring out some more details where they are needed.

I'm normally not a great fan of noticeable vignettes, but it works well here as it simulates stage lighting quite well. Another case of knowing when to break the rules!   Posted: 08/07/2019 23:06:27

Very nice! I don't see anything I can tell you that would help; looks good as is.   Posted: 08/14/2019 16:44:34
