October 2018 - Kat with Wings

About the Image(s)

Kat found the wings in our prop room along with the rest of the costume. This was my third session with Kat and they have all been fun. Her husband always comes with her and helps with the costuming, posing an any other chore that needs doing during the shoot.

I photographed with my Canon 60D and my 28 to 80 Canon zoom lens. For a background, I selected a roll of pink seamless paper. My ISO was set at 200. Processing was done using Elements and Portrait Professional.

Another nice image Jim. I usually am not a great fan of pink backgrounds, but in this image, it works extremely well. I think I am going to have to start shooting on something other than a neutral background in my own work.

The only thing I am not 100% sure of is the frame you are using around the shot. I do like framed shots, but it seems to be a bit distracting as the outfit is actually quite busy.   Posted: 10/11/2018 14:44:09

I'm not sure about the frames either. I like them, but they can be over done. I use simple grey backgrounds most of the time, but I'm starting to find them boring.   Posted: 10/20/2018 10:24:42

Very nice image, Jim. The lighting and pose works well and I think the pink background was a good choice. My only critical comment would be that the lighting balance seems a little on the "flat" side. My personal preference is for a 2:1 ratio as a minimum for single subjects. Good job.   Posted: 10/24/2018 21:12:54
