About the Image(s)

This image of Minh-Ly, a Montreal, Canada based model was taken at a Pole-Dance exercise studio in Ottawa, Canada. Minh-Ly is an aerial silks model and these shots show her working this genre. The originalimage can be seen and all I have done is a fair bit of dodging and burning. Light was from a single 1.2m / 47" parabolic octabox. The sides, back and floor of the studio were draped with black cloth.

This looks like a fantastic opportunity to get some really different types of photos.

The solid black background helps the model and silks to stand out and give lots of impact. You captured her in a perfect pose.

It would be interesting to see this leaving the lighting on the silk as in the original photo and Minh-Ly as you have her in the finished picture. That would eliminate the bright area below her right arm and add to the impact of her pose.   Posted: 10/20/2018 10:13:36

A favorite concept of mine for artistic nude photography. The hanging fabric and black background work very well together to give the model freedom of poses. The contrast of the fabric and the models skin against the background makes for a powerful image. Great post work to strengthen a great image even more. Great job.   Posted: 10/24/2018 21:00:54
