Leo - I find that the PP work here is just too much over the top for me. The original image shows a weathered and worn face. The presented version looks like it would be a much better fit in a horror movie.   Posted: 06/13/2018 16:04:20

Manfred --
I appreciate your opinion. I always ask myself the same question - am I over the top? Especially, in case when a woman is the subject. However, I do try to see a bit beyond the reality of the physical appearance and open up inner content. The life is obviously hard for this woman. But in my brief encounter I realized that she holds a lot of optimism and hope for the future. She was kind, joyful, and humorous. And that is exactly what I was trying to convey.
By the way, I was not clear about the title of the image in my submission which caused a confusion. The correct one should be "I am from Yukon".

I really like the idea of showing a person's weathered and lined face. You have chosen to accentuate it here which really makes the viewer stop and study her face. I like that you can look deeply into her eyes, much more so than in the original picture.   Posted: 06/16/2018 08:56:11

Jim --
You got it precisely as I intended.
There is a saying: "Eyes are the mirror of the soul". I spent some time making her eyes full of light.
Thank you.   Posted: 06/16/2018 11:52:45

Yes, I think as you the details can be presented in a strong way even the picture is from women. I'm not seeing a perversion of the reality, I see only the face of a person who lived more than 30 years and accumulated live experience.
Her eyes show beauty, fun, and strong character.
I also do like texture at her shirt.   Posted: 06/23/2018 11:12:01

Leo, I do believe that your post processing brought out the personality of the woman along with the hardships encountered with life in the willds of the Yukon. My first impression was that the image was over-worked, but as I viewed it, I changed my mind. A successful character study.   Posted: 06/24/2018 22:28:03

I do love what you did to your original image. I think that it would be great in BW as well ...   Posted: 06/25/2018 13:56:51
