I took this photo at Smith Rock State Park in Eastern OR. I went in search of action photos for the PSA Individual Photography class I am taking and got some, but this ended up being my favorite photo of the day showing the climber so tiny in comparison to the majestic rocks.

Hey Jane, great concept. I like the repeating V shapes of the trees and gorge, which center the eye in the image. The blue of the sky and the orange of the rocks are pleasantly complementary to me. Focus and DoF create GREAT detail in the rocks and trees (good use of hyperfocal distance). I think most interesting is the cast of light illuminating the rocks, having been bounced off the hillside you're standing on.

Truth be told, I didn't notice the climber till I read your description. That being the case, it really seems more of a landscape to me, which is OK.   Posted: 04/09/2021 00:27:39

Hi Jane, must have been pretty cool to watch the rock climbers. I agree with Damon's comments. The repeating Vs bring a harmony to the photo. The climber gets lost. I'm curious if you were to pick a title what would it be?

My eye gets drawn to the highlight on the upper left part of the right peak.   Posted: 04/13/2021 00:29:27

I wonder if either of you has an idea re how I could draw the eye more to the climber?   Posted: 04/13/2021 07:58:49

Change the color of the climbers clothing to bright red And slightly bigger?
When you zoom into the climber is there a lot of details? If there are maybe enlarge a small area with the climber and put it where the climber is, kind of a picture in picture (crazy ™).   Posted: 04/15/2021 00:07:31

Some fun ideas. Thanks. I like how small he is in comparison to the hugeness...but red jacket might do it   Posted: 04/15/2021 07:50:51
