About the Image(s)

This photo was taken during the Milwaukee Air and Water Show last Saturday (July 27). The Thunderbirds put on their show over Lake Michigan just out from Milwaukee’s Lakefront Parks. Some friends have a condo on the bluff above the Lake, and their terrace is a great place to observe and photograph the show. As usual, my camera is a Canon 7D Mark II (1.6 crop sensor), and the lens is the EF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6L IS II zoom lens at 400mm. The settings were f:8.0, ISO 640, at 1/5000 sec, hand-held.

I took this image as a vertical. Do you prefer this image as a vertical or as a horizontal? As usual, I would also like your opinion on whether this is good enough for acceptance in PJD or PID internationals?

Gerald, I like the horizontal view, however you lose the vertical aspect of the planes flying straight up, so would probably chose that one. Certainly worth entering either PJ or PID. I also have the 7D and 100-400 combo which is awesome. Bruce   Posted: 08/08/2019 20:11:41

Great shot with the cropping helping keep the focus on the planes. Also a view with the six planes isn't that common. Should do well in either PID or PJ. Only thing that bothers me is whether the planes ever do that particular formation that rotating the image depicts.   Posted: 08/21/2019 12:46:13
