Dan, this month we are on a musical state of mind. Your guitar and harmonica player could join Less's musical group. Your vantage point is low so you can see the man's face shadowed by the hat. Obviously the light is harsh (midday ?) creating the additional contrasting shadows. The street musician placed himself in front of a food place giving him the chance of people stopping and perhaps get a tip. The black and white interpretation is good   Posted: 04/02/2021 07:45:54

I like the sharp image and the photo shows well as a B&W. I also like the low approach angle of the picture. However in my opinion, the image is too busy on the L side and the principal competes with the background, especially the Wrappers sign. I might suggest that the photo would be stronger if the principal was off-center.   Posted: 04/12/2021 18:47:07

Musician in full action. Nice low point of view. The b&w conversion is well chosen to separate the person from the background. The many texts in the background distract the viewer because of course everyone wants to read what is written.   Posted: 04/19/2021 03:53:21

Dan, nice B&W conversion with a wide range of tonal values and side lighting adds dimension. I like the triangulation in this image suggested by his head, his legs, right forearm and the separation of the fingers. The subject is easily recognizable and is placed in a street environment - a plain background would not add to the story. I believe eye level is at the musician's neck/harmonica; and perhaps your rising just a tad to his face so the camera is level with his face instead is a suggestion for another time.   Posted: 04/19/2021 06:12:46

So hard to shoot in bright light but the B&W really helps this image. The singer is caught in action and I can almost hear is voice. As others have noted, the background signage competes with the main subject. Perhaps a radial filter (in LR or PS) would be helpful to darken the background and highlight the singer?
