Cheat Chatting was created a few years ago while visiting Havana – Cuba on a photographic expedition with National Geographic. Walking on the streets we arrived to a large catholic church. These elderly ladies were chatting and they did not mind my presence. I used an Nikon D5 with the Nikkor Lens 70 – 200 mm f/2.8 @ 70 mm and with these settings: ISO 1000, f/4.0 and 1/3200 sec with a – 1/3 EV. The image was corrected for white balance on LightRoom, added some light to the shadows and was cropped.

The bright, contrasting colors set off an image that is fun to look at. The women appear to be enjoying their conversation perhaps taking a brief rest from the morning market (bags full). I like the way the image is framed by the doorway, stairs, and the small green (boarded up?) window. Everything in the image is sharp and even with the ISO there is no noise. Isaac…Beautiful composition and camera position which elevates the subjects on the steps. I also like the touches of red that flow around the two ladies and link them together. Nice clean background and the brown hues repeats in the stone steps. A nice story telling image where you can almost hear the whispers between the two. Posted: 12/17/2020 05:19:51

I like how the subject is framed by the doors. Because the background is in one color it helps the two women to stand out. The green color in the right corner I find distracting. That green could be changed by processing to be brown, like the rest of the background. Posted: 12/21/2020 12:27:14
