About the Image(s)

The picture was made in Strasbourg (France) during a walk in the city. Thanks to the elevated viewpoint I could taken a lot of photos about the life in the street.
I used: ISO 800, 1/500, f13 and 87mm.

Daniel, this image in addition of being from above, is also from behind. There are distracting element in both sides of the frame, as well as behind the persons walking by. The right side shows an amputated bike that you preserved to show the person's shadow projected on the sidewalk. On the other side the stair frame serves no purpose, so it was cropped. The light is very harsh (mid morning or mid afternoon). Timing is of essence.   Posted: 09/05/2020 09:04:14

Thank you Isaac, I hesitated for cropping the stair frame because the shadow of the bird was lost. But anyway the crop is better.   Posted: 09/25/2020 01:46:45

Daniel, I agree with Isaac, the moment is well captured, only I find it to be a little bit distracting. I think a tighter crop and a flip side would help the image. Good moment   Posted: 09/05/2020 14:46:59

Daniel, I like the image as originally presented and a dissenter. The staircase frame and the elevated camera position reminds me of HCB's image (which I have included as a reference). The street markings and shadows form an interesting geometric pattern which serve to frame the couple striding. Most of all I like the box head of the man. Perhaps a B&W version as a suggestion would bring it all together.   Posted: 09/13/2020 06:49:48

I like the male carrying the box on his head. Although is does seem stereotypical that the male is carrying it and not the female. My wife and I joke about this when she is doing the carrying and I am empty handed. I also find it interesting that the women, perhaps, presents better dressed? I like to content but there are many distractions also. Please see my rendition as how I would see it, not necessarily better just my view.   Posted: 09/14/2020 03:33:23

Than you Randy, indeed it works also in B&W.   Posted: 09/25/2020 01:48:48

I like the fact that the woman is smoking a cigarette while her companion carries the box..... and here is one more perspective with vertical cropping, some enhancement of the colors to the pavement, cloned out shadows on left, and made a little cooler.   Posted: 09/19/2020 15:25:21

Strong street photo with many ingredients. sunlight and shadows are perfect there, specially the presence of flying bird's shadow on the ground. The lines and curves are making it like a beautiful paint.
Beautiful capture!   Posted: 09/26/2020 05:10:40
