Fido Stay by Dr Isaac Vaisman, PPSA

August 2020 - Fido Stay

About the Image(s)

Fido Stay was created while walking in Habana-Cuba in the center of the city full o deteriorated and unmaintained structures where people still live. I found this lady with an interesting hairdo and with her dog at the doorstep and she was giving instructions not to go away. I jus happened to be at the right angle and moment. I used a Nikon D5 with the Nikkor lens 7—200 f/2.8 at 200 mm and with these settings: ISO 640, f/10 and 1/100 sec with + 2/3 EC. The image was PP in LightRoom and corrected for white balance, brightness, added light to the shadows and to the woman and dog’s face and was cropped.

I have not been to Cuba either but I love how you got this woman and her dog. I like it.   Posted: 08/11/2020 08:50:05

Isaac..I like the composition on this woman and her dog placed on the thirds. The expression on her face with her downward look draws attention to the colorful dog at her feet. The monotone background and walls provides the environment of her home. Good inclusion of the vertical barred window which repeats in her striped dress. Lots of interesting textures as well. Well done! A flipped version is suggested as an alternative.   Posted: 08/13/2020 11:47:30

I like very much the expression of the lady, talking to her dog (who seems not to listening). The austere background match very good with the lines of her dress.   Posted: 08/15/2020 07:33:04

The contrast between the woman's colorful dress and the unpainted walls is very striking, and very Cuban. Not only did you capture 'Fido Stay', but it looks like she may be getting ready to go out herself (ers in her hair?). I like the lines in the shot - - - I wonder if you crop out half of the wall to the woman's right? B   Posted: 08/18/2020 20:16:51

I was in Cuba a few years ago and it was wonderful. This image, because of her surroundings is so very typical of Cuba. Wonderfully done. l I don't think there is any real difference in the way she is facing, but if I had to make a choice I would choose the original.   Posted: 08/21/2020 09:47:07

Nice Street Photo as there is like a dialogue between the lady and the dog. The other door in the back gives a deeper dimension and added value to it. I see that there is a little big space in the left side of the photo, from the edge to the frame of the door, which can be cropped.   Posted: 08/29/2020 06:57:58
