May 2020 - French Opal Coast

About the Image(s)

This photo was taken in Wissant on the French Opal Coast. In this region, the light is very variable and gives the sea an opal-like color. The photo was taken in strong wind in the spring.

Daniel, this image tells us a lot of information, cold weather, solitude, friendship, time of the day, light conditions, simplicity. The image is sharp. The colors are appropriate for the time of the year. The horizon is straight and not in the middle of the frame.   Posted: 05/09/2020 11:18:41

Cold Spring!

Some aspects of the photo that I liked and caught my attention. All 5 of the people in the photo are looking in different directions and the long shadow from the two young woman on the left of the frame are in the same angle as the foreground curb and the cement wall. I like the straight horizon against the other angles of the photo.   Posted: 05/11/2020 20:50:31

Looks cold, feels cold, reminds me of Simon and Garfunkels song "Hazy shade of winter". I like the people all seemingly separate, in their own thoughts, and looking cold. The ubiquitous selfie taker in the background is perfect.   Posted: 05/15/2020 17:07:11

Daniel this is a nicely balanced image - the two figures on each side balance the man in the middle. The strong horizontals - steps, shadows, pavement, waves and horizon supported by the verticals (people) in the scene. Except for one which is not like the others, all the people are hooded and faceless. Nice separation of the figures, no mergers of the bodies. Good capture!   Posted: 05/16/2020 13:17:16

Body language really tells you this is a cold spring day. Matching friends on the left and assorted tourists on the right. Interesting composition.   Posted: 05/28/2020 22:12:47

The photo gives you the sense of relaxation, calmness and fresh breathe. I think all of us are missing these scenes as we face this global situation.
I liked a lot the horizontal lines in front, middle and the back. The horizontal line is well places and the distribution of people is harmonized. The presence of shadow added a deeper level to the image.   Posted: 05/30/2020 07:07:11
