Blue Barrel Cacti by Cindy Lynch

May 2022 - Blue Barrel Cacti

About the Image(s)

What I really liked about this photo was the details and the colors. I significantly darkened the background, reduced the noise and enhanced the details in Photoshop. Settings: f/8, 1/100, ISO 5600, 40 mmm focal length.

I love the lines in this image. The spikes on the cacti are going in different directions and it allows you to dance around the image. It does feel a little dark to me. I know you mentioned darkening the background and maybe it was way too busy, but I think you lose some of the edges of the spikes.   Posted: 05/13/2022 13:57:16

The image is very sharp and has lots of depth of field. I like the composition and the tight cropping. The larger cactus is placed well in the image for good composition. I will agree with Jessica that it does seem a bit dark to me.   Posted: 05/14/2022 13:32:16

I like the dark background which makes it feel like a night shot. The different angles show the symmetry and beauty of this formidable plant. They call it the horse crippler. Reminds me of Cholla cacti. The right side makes me want to see just a little more.   Posted: 05/21/2022 12:25:16
