Blur Crystal Ornament by Jessica Manelis

January 2021 - Blur Crystal Ornament

About the Image(s)

I went treasure hunting at Longwood Gardens last month and came across this ornament hanging on one of their trees. I liked the color and the non-traditional red and green. I post processed in Topaz. I shot it with my Nikon D7000 and a 60mm macro lens. I would love your thoughts.

I love the colors and clarity in this shot. The many facets of the ornament make for an interesting image. Do you have the whole ornament in your original shot? My only objection is to cutting off the tips of the ornament on two sides and the merger on the bottom.   Posted: 01/07/2021 10:22:52

Nice color and interesting subject, and as Cindy mentioned, the facets add a lot of interest. It's good that capture it with very little hot spot reflections. I agree that pulling back on the crop to include all the crystals would help the image.   Posted: 01/13/2021 13:13:59

Nice winter subject. I think you might have been a touch too close. Try taking many shots from various distances. A step back can make a big difference.   Posted: 01/31/2021 16:24:45
