About the Image(s)

I took this at a camera day at The World Bird Sanctuary in St Louis, MO. Wonderful portrait image Cindy, the side profile really gives you a nice angle on the feathers. I would not change a thing on the bird, it looks great. Since the original background was black, seeing the mottled grays in the image can be a little distracting. Maybe returning that background to true black could provide a stronger contrast with the owl. Well done; what a great opportunity the Bird Sanctuary provided for photographers.   Posted: 11/10/2020 10:42:08

I think you did a great job of capturing the texture and feel of the feathers. I think the composition is great. As for the background, as Bob said, it feels like you erased something or tried to cover something up out of the image. I would also try darkening the background.   Posted: 11/11/2020 12:31:53

Cindy, I left you for last because I kept wondering what made what appears to be some sort of "halo" on the side of his head. It could be the other side of the owl's head (also white) that is shown. In my opinion the design on top of the wings appear as encrusted jewels on top of the owl's feathers. The one large black eye staring back adds even more impact. Beautiful image!   Posted: 11/20/2020 13:30:59

Composition is perfect. You have it all in this shot. Impact, lighting, subject matter, points of interest. I'm jealous.   Posted: 11/25/2020 09:39:14
