About the Image(s)

My image for this month is one I took at a historic cottage I visited in an old mining town nearby. The door had an old saw blade attached to the frame, and I liked the contrast of the saw blade with its teeth, the wood edge showing through, and the old stone.

The shot was hand-held at 1/200sec, f/6.3, ISO400 and 105mm. I took a few different shots, but like this composition best.

I have increased contrast and given it a sight colour grade using a colour balance adjustment layer.

Beautiful details, textures and colors in this abstract image. Don't really need to know what it is to enjoy it. Your composition is strong, as well. Nice job!   Posted: 09/15/2020 21:30:32

Wonderful composition. I would have never guessed it was a saw blade on the left side. But as Cindy says, you don't need to know that to enjoy the image. I like the color and texture you came up with for the final image. The only thing you might try, it would change the comp, but maybe play around with the wood piece in the center. Adjust the tone/color a little to make it different from the rest of the wall. Might add additional visual interest.   Posted: 09/17/2020 10:51:17

I really like the contrast of textures and colors in your image. I also think this composition works. It uses the rule of thirds and having that "line" or division in the first third, makes the image more interesting. I find myself really looking at this and trying to figure out what it is.   Posted: 09/17/2020 10:56:15

I like the texture, lines and colors of the old stone. The wooden piece and red background contrasts well with the curvy lines of the stone and makes the composition interesting.   Posted: 09/17/2020 21:12:11
