Red Leaf Purple Leaf by Jessica Manelis

October 2019 - Red Leaf Purple Leaf

About the Image(s)

These potato vine leaves were growing in one of my planters. I liked the juxtaposition of color as well as the lines created from the veins of the leaf. Just cropped. No post processing yet. I would love to get your thoughts. Shot with my iPhone.

The vibrant colors are just beautiful. Your focus looks good. Did you try a bit tighter crop removing the blurred leaf at the bottom right? That might also eliminate the upper right corner that is not important to the image. But then you lose a little definition of the pink leaf shape. Editing is tough!   Posted: 10/05/2019 13:12:26

Hi Jessica - I love the colours of the leaves, they are beautiful. I too have been playing with using my iPhone as the camera I have with me most often.
Like Laurie, I am a little distracted by the blurred leaf in the foreground. I am not sure of the best option other than cropping. Have a play and maybe see if a landscape orientation crop would work.   Posted: 10/10/2019 19:09:05

I also love the colors. For the most part, you have good details on the leaves, but like the others the blur of another leaf in the lower right corner is a distraction. If you have more in the original shot, I would consider trying to restore the rest of the red leaf at the upper right. Another suggestion is to replace the wooden area to the upper right by cloning the background leaf to fill the space or darken it down considerably.   Posted: 10/11/2019 11:12:52

Hi Jessica,

I, too, am a little distracted by the lower right purple foreground. The colors blend so well. You might want to crop the distracting blurred leaf in the foreground just leaving the colors and patterns as your composition elements -- which are beautiful.   Posted: 10/14/2019 14:37:16
