Janis - this is beautiful. I love the creamy background and the sharp focus on the butterfly. The only suggestion I have (and it's minor) would be to blur the leaf in the lower left hand corner. One other thing is that when I click on your image it's so small that it's difficult to see details. You might want to check the settings when you export your photos.   Posted: 08/05/2019 10:57:49

Thanks Laurie. What settings should I be using to export my photos? I have not figured out Lightroom yet so I am using the Photos program that came on my MacBook. Editing is very limited with this program, so I need to dive into Lightroom and learn how to use it.   Posted: 08/05/2019 14:31:58

Hi Janis - what a lovely image. The background is soft and the close up details clear. I love that you have captured the butterfly's antennae inspecting the milkweed.
The composition is lovely. My only suggestion for you is the same as Laurie's. Well done.   Posted: 08/06/2019 15:35:17

I agree with Laurie. The one leaf the butterfly is not on could be blurred out a little more. You could probably do this in Photoshop. You could even get rid of it all together. Other wise, I think it is a great shot.

Planning on trying to grow milkweed in my own yard next season to attract more butterflies.   Posted: 08/10/2019 08:27:07

Nice shoot with good details. The antennae and legs are in focus and your background is nicely sharp. You may want to add a slight vignette to keep the eye in the frame.

I, too, would appreciate a larger image size to view. I size at 140 resolution and 1024 X 768 (can't be taller than that) pixels.
