Canna Leaves by Cindy Lynch

August 2019 - Canna Leaves

About the Image(s)

I was at the Missouri Botanical Gardens to take photos of water lilies, but couldn’t resist a macro shot of canna leaves with a red diagonal stem. I adjust the details and contrast in Photoshop, using Nik Color Efex and Viveza. Settings: f/5.6, 1/160 sec., 58 mm focal length and ISO 100.

I like this a lot. The lines and colors really lead the eye into the photo. After looking at it for a minute I found the small water drops. Other than playing with the crop I can't think of any suggestions for the edits. This crop works for me.   Posted: 08/04/2019 10:47:42

Hi Cindy - I like your image. I like the way you've created depth with both colour and detail, and the flowing diagonal lines, with only a few horizontal components.
I can't suggest any changes - I'm enjoying what you've done :)   Posted: 08/06/2019 15:26:30

It feels a little dark at the bottom to me, but I really like the layering of the leaves and the pattern of the lines that are created and how that contrasts with the red flower buds coming up through them.   Posted: 08/10/2019 08:20:49

I like the lines of the leaves especially as they to the top. The red stalk of the flower contrast well with the greens of the leaves. I would lighten the picture a little.   Posted: 08/20/2019 17:05:06

Like the use of the red colors of the stem. Really pops out.
Not really much to change. Maybe crop over a bit from the right.
