About the Image(s)

Back to Maine for a quintessential harbor picture. I think this was Stonington
Harbor. It is getting hard to find those old lobster traps outside of museums and gift
shops. Working traps are now made vinyl coated steel.

The result is a nice watercolor image. What do you think of the distinct lines on the far shoreline and tree line? I think the angle from behind the traps is fantastic!   Posted: 04/12/2021 18:27:55

I like the accent lines DAP inserts in these Watercolor images. Otherwise the the figures can be a little too soft overall. On some other images I have added additional lines and on others I have removed some. Play it as it goes.

Your use of DAP has done a marvelous job on converting this into a painting that is interesting to look at. I particularly like the way you treated the sky and water with the watercolor texture. I'm thinking that it must have been hard to maintain all the netting in the traps and still have the water showing through.   Posted: 04/18/2021 13:39:04

This has a great watercolor feel and mood. I am glad that the boardwalk in the lower left of the original is gone. The open space of water on the left now leads my eyes to the traps and then to the harbor's boats, the landscape, and back again. The water also seems to have so much more movement; the different colors really lends to that feeling of motion and flow. Love this rendition.   Posted: 04/19/2021 15:50:36

Terry, this is a lovely watercolor painting. Your original angle of the trap and netting was well thought out and created a great image. I am always impressed with your outcomes from your DAP program. The painting added additional red tones and sharpness in the trap thus creating a lot of interest and additional pop to the image which wasn't there in the original. Nicely done.   Posted: 04/23/2021 20:28:52

DAP wanted more red in those wooden pieces, I had to back off the red saturation and even now it looks a little too purple.
Some times when I layer a couple of the DAP images the blend creates some strange shades.   Posted: 04/23/2021 22:13:58
