About the Image(s)
This was taken with my first digital camera a Canon EOS10D. The lag-time was so poor that I often had to set up the shot and click the shutter before the action was in the frame! Shooting the finalists as they were ready to cross the finish line head-on, at least they were not blurry. On subsequent cameras, I have been able to shoot at much faster speeds, but this was: 1/250 sec, f/8 300mm 200ISO. We had come that July day to shoot the bike races through downtown, but the skaters were an added attraction.
Since I could only see part of the finish line banner, I left if out, because when the shot was un-tilted, it was cropped out anyhow. I did the usual distracting-object removals and a faint vignette and curves adjustment in Camera Raw and sharpened the people in Photoshop, leaving background alone. I hadn't used AlienSkin SnapArt in a long time, so that was the application I used on this, choosing the "Watercolor" module with the sub-choice of "Colorful" to punch-up the action.

My attention, however, is being drawn away somewhat by the man with the blue shirt in the background. So, I attempted to clone this man out, as well as some of the signs. As always, this is just my personal preference; I do appreciate your original vision.   Posted: 02/10/2021 08:57:18
