About the Image(s)

This technique is from a fun abstract image that was an extra “fun” lesson in Michelle Parsley paint program last month. I applied the same paint techniques to one of my own images. I used strong pure paint tones and no blending with the PS Mixer Brush. The brush strokes and bold colors remind me of Jeremy Sutton’s artwork with painter.

I love the abstract quality you have created. The eyes are great! I don't know how you chose those wonderful colors (one eyelid blue, one eyelid red), but they all worked!! A great transformation. I have not reached this point in my lessons with Michelle yet; when I do, I will remember this image.
PS Love the "frame" and the subtle drop shadow. This is a a great finishing touch. Congratulations.   Posted: 09/11/2020 09:33:35

While I don't understand precisely how you got this effect/style, it looks very effective and proves to be a fun way to present portraits, Nancy. How creative!   Posted: 09/18/2020 11:05:50

I never heard of Parsley so I had to google and see what I could find. Wow, that is truly painting in every sense of the word! This image brings me back 40-50 years and to the psychedelic era ... don't know why, it's the way it popped to me. The colors are well chosen for impact and I like the choice you made in not including the hair. The square format nails it for me. What is your advice to group members for starting along in this painting style, know of any YouTube vids?   Posted: 09/18/2020 12:07:28

Thank you everyone. This was a fun abstract project. The secret was the brush as it did not allow any mixing with the other colors so in taking MP Mixer Brush class, I found this at first to be rather difficult. Just like real paint, just brush it on.   Posted: 09/23/2020 23:32:57
