About the Image(s)

One of my photo-essays was of a playground, where I made this image of the young boy playing with friends. The boy’s face developed a dirty stain during processing that is not in the original. But I felt it was not unusual for a young boy to have a dirty face so I left it.

The image was processed with the D.A.P. Sargent filter and that was stacked over the original. These were then adjusted with blending, selected erasures and HSL and Curves adjustments.

What a delightful subject you have. I love the intrigued look you captured on his face.
I am not familiar with the DAP filters but it has a very good painterly effect and strong brush strokes while still retaining the nice features of the boy's face.

I love the effect you have achieved here. The background painting effects perfectly enhance that little boy. I absolute love each brush stroke on the playground equipment. My only suggestion would be to "MAYBE" reduce the opacity of the brush strokes on the boys face and arms. This is, of course, MY personal preference. I think the image would shine either way.

A delightful picture of this child. Ihe dirt on his arms and hands make it even more appealing, although I would suggest removing the smudge above his lip, which looks a bit like a moustache.   Posted: 01/11/2020 20:22:19

Lovely image. If you hadn't told me, I would just have thought the "dirt" was a nice artistic touch. Personally, I like texture off the face, but that is just me, but keeping it makes it look like an old master's art image. Nicely done.   Posted: 01/15/2020 10:49:27

Cute little kid and such an intent expression on his face. I agree that he'd probably have a dirt smudge or two at his age, so that doesn't bother me. I also like the way the background colors brightened up with your D.A.P. software. You captured a super pose and handled it well with your painting.   Posted: 01/25/2020 11:42:59
