December 2019 - Doors

About the Image(s)

My December 2019 painting is without an original image but as this is not my usual wildlife, I just could not locate, or I used it to do the painting and saved it a presented.? My apologies.
The work was done in layers with Photoshop cc and I also used the Alien skin filter from the trial copy I downloaded.
All comments and critique are most welcome.

This looks like a home in the Cape.
The balance of the potted plant on the left and the 2 doors on the right are wonderful framing focal points.
You added just enough texture and painterly effect, while retaining a balanced sense of realism to the image   Posted: 12/08/2019 09:08:08

Your composition is well done and I like the slight upward tilt of the image. The complementary tones you ended up with really make the image pop with the blues and oranges. I agree with Cyril, the art texture is just enough to enjoy an artistic look and still enjoy realism.   Posted: 12/08/2019 09:16:53

I, too, like the blue and orange complementary colors - these colors create a very well thought-out color palette. The Alien skin filter seems to have created a "stucco" feel to the house and, concurrently, a "concrete" feel to the road. You could not have picked a more perfect texturizer. The image is very well balanced - and I appreciate this composition. IF you wanted to add a bit more drama and/or tension, you might crop this into a square format; right between the two doors, leaving only the left side of the image. What do you think?   Posted: 12/08/2019 15:36:47

While I don't have an original to compare with, I like the ageless old-timey feel that the paintwork gives this painting. I agree with Cindy that the textures seem like stucco and concrete. It doesn't feel like a painting made from a photograph--just an original painting. It seems like you got the hang of the AlienSkin filter pretty fast.   Posted: 12/26/2019 15:39:13
