The location and image is lovely. Your position for the image is spot on to capture the s curve of the rivers which leads me into the image and the texture of the filter really enhances the ripples in the water. You definitely need the foreground to keep the composition but it may be possible to crop a bit off. To my eye, all of the foreground may not need to be there as it doesn't seem to add that much and cropping might take me into the image easier. I particularly like the diagonal line of the bank on the foreground and the diagonal line on the hill in n the mid-ground both seem to constrain the image. If the clouds were not so lovely I might suggest a crop there too since the center is your center of interest to my eye.   Posted: 10/04/2019 15:20:46

thanks Nancy
I debated cropping the foreground. You will give me the incentive now to do it.   Posted: 10/04/2019 15:54:11

With the "S" curve of the river, the curve of the road and the great background mountains, this was a great way to begin a painting. I can just envision an easel set up in this exact spot! I love what the oil paint mode did to all the greenery, the mountains and the river. For my taste though, I might like to see less pronounced brush strokes on the white clouds. For my personal taste, the brush strokes in this part of the image have too much depth and detail. A little bit of a blur in this area might solve the issue. All in all, a very successful painting. I wish I had been there with you.   Posted: 10/04/2019 19:15:16

A beautiful painting, Cyril. I agree with the others about the composition and cropping the foreground. But I would like to see a different treatment of the water so that it looks more water-like and contrasts with the rendition of the foliage.   Posted: 10/05/2019 16:58:00

You chose a very nice scene and the composition lends itself to a painterly effect . You have achieved what you set out to do. The cropping is personal but the scene as is creates an easy lead into the painting. Well done.   Posted: 10/14/2019 07:24:25
