About the Image(s)

Our camera club had a beach outing to Crystal Cove. There are always so many things to see. One of our members had her delightful children there and it was such fun seeing them explore and find sand crabs. We forget how exciting this all can be if we do not watch children.

Using my Lumix GH5 ISO 200. 1/500, f5.6 .

I put a painterly texture to bring out warmer tones and then painted the child using the mixer brush. I took this combination into Studio and used the Chalk painting preset and put on a slight white vignette. For the mat, I used filter >ADD NOISE to create the sand look and made it a bit stronger to make it actually look like sand. I always click monochromatic to take out the color pixels. Stroke and drop shadow to add a finished look.

Your subject matter is delightful.
What i like so much about your painting is the soft hues and textures that give this a wonderful peaceful painting.
I particularly like the hues of the water above the child.   Posted: 08/08/2019 07:56:54

Wow. I love this little girl and that you created a wonderful, moody, painted image from such a simple touch of a child's nature. I love that I can't see her face, and that her shadow fades into the foreground and is not as sharp as seen in the original. The warm tonalities throughout the image help its mood. I definitely want to try your mat technique one day as well. It was a great complement to the composition.   Posted: 08/08/2019 17:58:13

I'm sure the parents will love it. I love it-- the delicate colors, the square format, and your innovative mat. A sweet painting, Nancy.   Posted: 08/11/2019 19:34:19

What a peaceful scene in its simplicity. The original had no distractions and converted into a painting, works very well. The pastels you worked into it make it look good for a young girl in a world of her own. Although I like the clarity of the shadow in the original, you probably did right to blend it in as you did, to unify the painting. I like this a lot.   Posted: 08/21/2019 17:37:28
