About the Image(s)

his image was originally captured during a fall trip to the Adirondacks in 2007. The morning was foggy and I liked the mood of the fog but didn’t like the left part of dock and the railing. I removed that part of the image in Photoshop and proceeded to work on my painting with a combination of Topaz Impression filters. I applied a mix of Photo Painting III, Obscurity II, Oil Glaze, and Painterly II filters and masked selective areas to blend the filters to my liking. A light texture was also added to the sky area to complete the painting. Overall, I wanted to capture the mood and peacefulness of that quite morning.

Although I love the moodiness of the original I much prefer your painting. Eliminating the left side of the dock enhances thew foreground tremendously.the fog, foliage and interesting water all stand out so much better.
The painting tells a wonderful story.   Posted: 01/10/2018 10:28:58

Thanks, Cyril. I agree the left side of the dock really didn't work...   Posted: 01/11/2018 19:34:46

Jeanine, you made a great start in this painting group because it truly does look like a real painting! The encroaching fog is lovely and soft and I agree that you had foresight in changing the dock's shape. I wouldn't have thought it would make such a difference, but in the original, it sort of blocks the eye's movement through the frame and distracts. You created a harmonious view by eliminating the clutter and lightening the tones with a combination of filters. Nicely done.   Posted: 01/23/2018 21:42:37

Hi Jeanine, I really like the painting you created with the variety of filters you used. Your painting has a very smooth gel look on the dock, boats, and rocks which adds a very attractive finish to the image. Wonderful vision in eliminating the left-hand section of the dock.   Posted: 01/24/2018 01:58:21
