The Singer was shot at a local art fair last summer. This young lady was in a singing competition. I chose the monochrome image over the color one due to the bright orange jacket she was wearing was a distraction. She did not win the contest, did not even place in the top five, but she looked good doing it.

Smart move with the monochrome. This girl may not have won, but from your image, it wasn't because she wasn't into it. Very nice depth of field. Sharp and crisp and just soft enough to compliment her complexion. Her closed eyes (often a negative) add to the emotion. A very nice image. Picky Alert!! This is a a very good composition and I concur the selection of black and white really brings the features of the singer out. The various textures, the hair, sleeve of the jacket, skin and mic are so crisp. Concur that the zipper could be toned down some but also some house keeping in the top left and right corners would help. There is a white line and dot respectively which depicts the edge. Beautiful, sharp capture in monochrome. Her closed eyes and soft face and tight grip on the mic convey the feeling of an emotional performance. Understanding this Singer makes such an emotional impact in the image despite not doing especially well in the contest made me think of a favorite quote from Maya Angelou: "I've learned that people will forget what you said; people will forget what you did; but people will never forget how you made them feel." Well done!

Beautiful image! Such a nice looking artist so emotionally connected to her song which, I bet, was a good one. Black and white is perfect for this photo. The depth of field and focus is impressive given the lighting and movement that you must have had to deal with.   Posted: 03/23/2020 14:14:02
