About the Image(s)

Here is a photo of Central Park taken with a Cannon Powershot G3X at 1/640 sec, f 5.0, ISO 125 and at 48 mm from an 8.8-220 mm lens. It was enhanced in Lightroom and Silver Effex.

The combination of subjects effectively tells several stories of different people using the park. The technique and absence of color compliment the idea of different stories, instead of focusing on one. Glare from the bench and background (pond?) is distracting. Would dodging help?   Posted: 07/06/2017 14:09:09

There's a lot to look at in this photo so I'm not sure what is the actual subject. My eyes get drawn to the brights spots on the bench and under the bridge but I don't think that should be the focus. The people in the park are very dark and don't stand out. If the theme is the park itself I might have tried a large wider framing to bring in a wider view of the environment.   Posted: 07/11/2017 09:06:22

I note that 3 of our Group's 7 images this month are monochrome. Is this how it ought to be in a Color Study Group?

Doubtful if the very bright spots can be "burned" since bright spots indicate "no pixels" and you can't burn "no" pixels. Suggest selecting the bright spots with the magic wand, then in Levels move the lower slide's white slider to the left to define the whitest white.   Posted: 07/17/2017 10:02:36

The river surface and the bench on the left are too bright and even over-attracting my eyeballs. I can't stop looking only at those two area but indeed I believe that those two areas are not the main points of the photo. Next comment is that the man+dog+woman combination has a lamp post cutting them into two halves, especially the dog is now a half-dog. I would prefer waiting for them moving away from the middle positioned lamp post. May be that when taking photo if you move a bit left of right it could help.   Posted: 07/17/2017 18:08:16

Very interesting photo with multiple points of interest. Perhaps a little lightening of some of the people to bring out the details. Also, I agree that the bright spots on the bench and water are somewhat distracting and should be eliminated or lessened if possible.   Posted: 07/20/2017 18:24:52
