Mother Goose by Ron Clegg

July 2017 - Mother Goose

About the Image(s)

Mother Goose was shot at Cranbrooke Gardens, in Bloomfield Mi. A couple of weeks. There were quite a few young geese around. But this group were actually charging me expecting to be fed. I had a hard time keeping them in auto-focus range of the 70-300mm lens. Nikon D750 ISO 570, 1/500sec @f6.7

Effective capture of charging young geese looking right at the photographer, with one particularly ready for battle and Mother Goose rising calmly above it all, with one baby peeking from behind her.   Posted: 07/06/2017 14:37:16

Nicely done and nicely focused. Removing the two geese pictured next to the mother's neck might be a plus.   Posted: 07/10/2017 13:30:48

I can see how this would be challenging to keep sharp with a lot of depth of field as the geese approach you. Overall, you did a great job. Personally I'd like to see the photo have more impact, as it is feels sort of flat/subdued. Perhaps experiment with WB and/or contrast adjustments?   Posted: 07/11/2017 09:14:20

If you desire more impact (contrast, contrast, contrast) then try using the White Eye Dropper in a Levels Layer on the white neck band of the "mother goose"..... might want to flatten it first, then make a duplicate copy of the Background Layer so that you can apply the Opacity Slider to the duplicate layer after the White eyedropper treatment.
Nice story ....   Posted: 07/17/2017 10:07:48

Wes, you are very valuable to this group I notice how much "teaching " you do, and this is what I am delighted to see in DD   Posted: 07/18/2017 15:50:22

Nice photo. Keeping all the geese in focus is difficult and you did a great job at this. I like the varied points of interest of the photo with the various geese. I also like the one peaking behind his mother...brings a smile!   Posted: 07/20/2017 18:39:05
