About the Image(s)

This month I was continuing my theme of birds and flowers. I wanted to emphasize the incidental act of pollination. I chose some small flowers to simulate pollen since I'd already pushed the boundary of proportions.

I enjoy your bird/flower composites. I think you have used this bird before, and I don't blame you. It's a good image. The out of focus background helps focus the eye on the bird and flower; however, the bright flowers on the right side of the image draw the eye away from the bird/pollen/flower. Also, I feel the pollen should be scattered so it doesn't look like the bird is relieving himself. This composite definitely has potential.   Posted: 05/12/2022 15:54:36

Great flower and bird images. The right side flowers add very little to the total picture   Posted: 05/13/2022 17:51:37

I really like this image, Brad. Using the bird for the pollination is very clever; it opens this up beyond the literal. I love the use of small flowers to simulate pollen.
I have a new appreciation for your flower images after spending the last several weeks trying to come up with an interesting flower shot for my camera club's competition.
Personally, I really like having an out of focus flower at the right. The glowing blur may be a flower, but maybe it's the sun, or a fantasy doorway to another world.

I personally would crop out the second flower at the far right.
And I agree with Alan about scattering the pollen.   Posted: 05/15/2022 14:15:36

Hi Brad, I looked back in the previous rounds for your flower images, a wonderful concept! I think that the latest version of this image is just perfect, with the colors, composition and a story of mythical dimensions.   Posted: 05/21/2022 10:38:36

Kristi, Thanks for taking the tie to review my prior images and for the very positive feedback. I am definitely in a flower period, will end up being a nice series once I finish.   Posted: 05/21/2022 19:55:37

Hi Brad, lovely image that you have created and great concept also.
I really like the scattering pollen suggestion I think it works much better
I worked in the background blurring it as I found the flower get too much attention to my taste   Posted: 05/22/2022 01:57:25

Maria, Thank you for your feedback. I do like a blurry background to help focus the image. I personally prefer keeping the orange color of the adjacent flowers as it supports the narrative.   Posted: 05/25/2022 10:28:06

I revisited this image and find that your scattering of the pollen and Maria's blurred background are more to my taste. The pollen is quite well drawn, and Maria's background will still satisfy Peggy's fantasy to another world.   Posted: 05/25/2022 09:39:57

Alan, I appreciate you revisiting this image. I will certainly consider further blurring and exploring an alternate fantasy world. One could literally spend months working on variations on one image.   Posted: 05/25/2022 10:29:57
