About the Image(s)

Original 1 was taken at Mono Lake along Eastern Sierras after sundown. I created night sky, Original 3, from instructions on internet.
Enlarged the Original 1 and added the sky. Then created the comet by filling a circle with yellow dots and the using Photoshop filter Distort /Wave . Moved the stone towers from another Mono Lake image and lightened the left sides to create glow from the comet. Made some tonal adjustments to establish midnight. Copied the comet to water surface and again used filters to make it less sharp for reflecting from water.

Aavo, I love Mono Lake. You've done a nice job creating a magical image here. My personal preference would be to handle this image in a more realistic way. You have a beautiful image of the lake and the tufas here. If you were to use real stars and add more of the original 1 lake image with a natural handling the of the tufas, I think that would be visually stronger. Nice job.   Posted: 11/12/2019 13:20:07

I agree with Brad. This is an "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" situation. Original 1 and Original 2 are so beautiful that they need to be enhanced or left alone, but still remain realistic.   Posted: 11/13/2019 18:37:00

Thanks Alan and Brad for your comments. Since we have to use three sources, and I don't have a good image of stars, I used the Noise filter. With poor results.   Posted: 11/15/2019 19:10:23

A good reason to get out there and do some night photography!   Posted: 11/16/2019 13:01:50

I love the way you added the glow of the comet onto the tufts. It really adds to the dimensional feeling.
The comet feels really fun in an interesting stylized way.
The composition has a very nice balance.
I think you've got fabulous components here and it would be really interesting to see them in other incarnations.   Posted: 11/17/2019 16:08:37
