About the Image(s)

I started with a gloomy view of California coast near Big Sur. Then made it even darker and gloomier. The sailor was a model in PSA Annual convention. I made him almost B/W. Same with the boat

that had washed ashore in one of Santa Barbara spring storms. Placed the boat in water and made the surf in front of him higher. Using layers placed the sailor on the rock outcrop and made him

more ghostly. Perhaps he died in the storm.

Great compositions and concept! Possibly my suggestion would be to smooth out the edges of the "ghost cloud"....to make it more ethereal!
I have a feeling that the sea and cliffs might need levelling a little. ....I always notice this in other people's images....just not mine!
Great Story!   Posted: 07/02/2017 20:50:08

Took me a while to find the sailor - fear he is just a bit too dark on my computer. The sea and boat are great, and I like the idea, just cannot see the captain sadly.   Posted: 07/05/2017 11:41:55

You have captured that eerie, mysterious mood very well.
I really like how the waves by the boat give that washed-up on the shore feeling.
Great composition. And wonderful portrait of the captain.
I like how everything is de-saturated; the hint of color works really well here. There are two spots of red on the boat that are a little distracting.
The captain is too dark for my eye, at least on my monitor. I tried an additional layer of him, lowered opacity in screen mode. See what you think.   Posted: 07/06/2017 11:00:35

I have to agree with the others. This is a wonderfully evocative image. I can feel the anger of the sea as it tears the boat apart. The sailor shows up fine on my monitor, but I can see where it might be a little dark. I like how you got rid of most of the image and zeroed in on the face. He could easily be the captain looking back at the wreck. I think I would have cloned out the town on the side of the hill, but that is a personal thing.   Posted: 07/08/2017 00:02:09
