About the Image(s)

Canon 5D3. ISO 1600 1/250th f5.6 200mm. Minimal post processing in Capture One. Cropped about 2/3 of full size.

This was taken late afternoon in open shade when there was some smoke in the air from local (Washington State) fires. This is one of our neighbors who helps us out with farm chores.

I also in included a “B” shot which had more of a smile.

Do you like the main photo or the “B” version? Any recommendations on either photo?

For me they are both very appealing - but i prefer the smiley one more. The lighting is beautiful and both images are well focused.   Posted: 10/12/2020 10:56:50

Both images have great exposure, color, focus and background bokeh. For me, what both need is a stronger composition. Also, it's important to emphasize the model's best features and de-emphasize those that are less flattering. Her face in the hat is the most important. So, I'll show you a few and hopefully others will weight in.

Good exposure and a nice soft background. The very small portion of her right eye in the one shot is a little distracting. My favorite is the smiley one and Tom's Crop 2 horizontal version.   Posted: 10/16/2020 17:10:44

Lovely portrait. Prefer the original pose & Tom's Crop 2 is the one for me   Posted: 10/17/2020 04:38:19
