Skyline Arch by Brenda Frezeman

September 2020 - Skyline Arch

About the Image(s)

I just got back last night from a road trip to Utah. Here's the first image I processed from the trip.

My husband and I took a road trip to Utah last week, visiting Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. This image is of Skyline Arch, one of the well-known and photogenic arches in the area. It’s a great scene during the day, but becomes even more special at sunset when the rocks practically glow. There are plenty of gnarly old juniper trees around to create some foreground interest. I did basic processing in Lightroom and a bit of selective dodging and burning.

This is stunning. Magical light, lots of rhythmic lines and an intriguing angle of view.   Posted: 09/07/2020 13:13:30

Outstanding! Wouldn't change a thing. The foreground makes it special.   Posted: 09/16/2020 18:35:07

What a wonderful site to visit and photograph! I wish I had the stamina to visit places like this (and the finances).

You really can get by without any changes, but I think the following would help: Dodging and burning to bring out more detail and some added contrast as well.   Posted: 09/17/2020 16:54:15

Nice job on shooting from a low vantage point. Helps highlight the grandeur of the scene.   Posted: 09/18/2020 10:07:41
