About the Image(s)

I took a number of photos at a knitting group and liked this one for the hands and color.

Canon 5D3. 80mm, 1600 ISO, 1/100, F4.5. Off-camera flash. Edited in Capture One.

I was thinking of taking a number of hands and knitting photos for a personal project. Any feedback would be great.

Impressive sharpness and a good example for hand art. Hand-knitting was also very popular in my country and still in Anatolia. There was no ready-to-wear sweaters, sweatshirts etc 50 years ago and our moms, grandma's were knitting for the family. There's nothing to say for exif, congrats. Your Project idea is also great, good luck Dan.   Posted: 01/02/2020 09:35:47

I really like this image Dan. We Irish have a great knitting tradition (& yes I can knit 😊 ). It really tells a story. Super DOF.
Your idea for a project is a lovely idea. Maybe expand it to include hands sewing, crocheting, woodworking and other crafts?   Posted: 01/04/2020 09:41:14

You hit this one out of the park, Dan! Everything is spot on: your exposure, focus, tonality, composition and story. You definitely have a winner and I'll be looking forward to more from this series. d:¬{D   Posted: 01/04/2020 14:32:49

Thanks everyone for their encouragement. It was a bit out of my comfort zone to ask people to take photos of their hands - but it seems to have been worth it. There was a wool spinning festival near Seattle yesterday (Saint Distaff's Day), and I captured a few more hands at work.
I do like the idea of extending it to other crafts - Thanks for that idea Miriam.   Posted: 01/05/2020 11:42:57

This is definitely a winner! You eliminated distractions in processing and really focus the viewer's attention on the hands. Great project!   Posted: 01/13/2020 15:05:15
